Frequently Asked Questions

What population do you serve?

We travel throughout the Delaware Valley, including Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester Counties, and South Jersey to provide mobile optometric services to patients who are unable to visit an office for an exam. This includes patients with limited mobility, bedbound and homebound patients, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and ALS patients, and residents of personal care, independent living, and skilled nursing facilities.

Do I qualify for an in-home eye exam?

If you currently receive home-based or facility-based services, you will likely be able to have an in-home eye exam through your insurance. If you are using insurance, final determinations of coverage are always made by your insurance company.

How can you perform an eye exam outside of an office?

We come equipped with portable versions of the medical instruments you may be familiar with from an eye doctor’s office. Many people are surprised with how thorough an in-home exam can be!

What services do you offer?

We offer diagnosis and/or management of a number of ocular conditions, including:

  • Glaucoma
  • Diabetes
  • Dry eyes
  • Red eyes
  • Macular degeneration
  • Cataracts

Certain conditions may require additional treatment that cannot be provided in-home, such as surgery or injections. We will refer you to an outside office if your condition requires out-of-home treatment.

Will my insurance cover an in-home eye exam? Do I need to pay a co-pay?

I am homebound. How can I get glasses?

In most cases, medical insurance considers refraction (the “prescription” for eyeglasses) and dispensing of new eyeglass lenses and frames to be non-covered services. These services are available at an out-of-pocket cost. Please call us to discuss your individual needs and how our doctors can provide you with new eyeglasses.
